The pig industry development scheme (PIDS)

The Pig Industry Development Scheme is designed to help British pig producers to reduce the risk of pig disease and its consequences. Initially it will be used to fund payments to pig farmers in East Anglia who sold pigs into the Welfare Disposal Scheme during the Classical Swine Fever outbreak last year.

Board members

Chairman, John Godfrey – pig farmer and past Chairman of the BPA and NPA.

James Dewhirst – Pig farmer, NPA member and Chairman of the Pig Disease Eradication Fund.

Richard Longthorpe – Pig farmer and NPA board member.

James Wyllie - Pig farmer and NFUS representative.

Richard Campbell - MLC Commissioner and chairman of BPEX.

Steve Ellwood – Head of Agriculture, HSBC and independent member.

Jake Waddilove - Pig vet based in Bury St Edmunds and independent member.
